A Detox Bath for Winter!

A Detox Bath for Winter!

A friend of mine recently shared with me a “detox bath” recipe. This bath is made with a beautiful blend of ingredients, each help to draw out toxins from the skin and body and have their own health benefits such as; stress reduction, improve sleep and concentration, ease muscle tension and increase nerve function.

Here’s how you do it…

While the water is running for your bath, add:
1 cup Epsom Salt
1 cup Sea/Himalayan Salt
1 cup Bicarbonate Soda
½ cup Apple Cider Vinegar

Mix thoroughly until dissolved, then climb in and soak for at least 20 minutes. Ideally, the water needs to be quite warm, you are looking to sweat a little as this helps flush toxins from your system. Be sure to make the most of your detox bath by creating a calm environment, light some candles, add some essential oils (such as lavender or chamomile) and listen to music – whatever personally shifts you into a calm state.

Once finished, rinse off thoroughly in the shower. While you rinse off, avoid using any harsh soaps, body washes, shampoos etc. After your bath your pores will be wide open, and will absorb any chemicals found in these products. You don’t want to retox after your detox!

After care:

• Try your best to stay warm during the process, especially avoid standing directly on a cold floor after your bath. You can place warm or dry towels down before stepping out of the bath.

• The best results are obtained if you be still and relax after your detox bath, so aim to have your bath before or near bed time.

• Drink plenty of fluids, increase your water intake for 24 hours after your detox bath.

Enjoy!
